There used to be a time in the history of building one’s MLM lead list when all a rep had to do was to contact everyone on their list, and announce the promotion of their product. The thought pattern of those times was that the product would speak for itself. Obviously, anyone would be able to recognize how special a product was and everyone should be able to recognize the value that a certain product could add to one’s life. Therefore, relationship building was seen as secondary. However, those days are long gone.

If any business entity wants to thrive and prosper in today’s economic climate, then relationships must be developed and nurtured. We live in a relationship-based world. The average person is just as powerful in deciding upon the future of a business entity as the CEO of a company is. At least, the smart business owner will recognize this fact. If you pay even a little attention to the newspapers or to broadcast news shows, then you understand this fact. However, you might need more understanding as to how this fact pertains to your MLM home business, in order to develop and leverage your MLM lead list.

It’s very simple actually. You need to call a meeting with yourself and ask yourself, how well do you truly know the people on your MLM leads list? How much of a relationship do you have with the people on your list? Do you truly understand how your product or service can make a true difference in their lives, let alone in the lives of others? Do you understand that the basics of sales entails that you have to be part sales person, part friend, and part personal counselor? You can get started immediately in engaging the people on your list. In the old days, a MLM marketer might host an open house of sorts at a hotel conference room. However, most people don’t want to go to a meet and greet, especially during their personal free time. Beyond this fact, these meet and greets do nothing to establish a true relationship with the people on your leads list. These open houses are nothing but another form of “tell and sell”.

What you can do that is very effective, is use technology in order to build relationships. For example, you can create your own blog around the topic of your product or service for sale. Remember that a blog is an online journal. Use your blog to share your thoughts. Create blog content that connects to your readers. Don’t come across like a robot; make humane and thoughtful connections. While you are using technology to share yourself, connect with others on social media websites. Again, don’t go charging in ready to “tell and sell”. Get to know people. Find out what makes them tick. Learn about their passions and interests. Then, you will understand if you have found candidates to sell your products to, and if you have found candidates to recruit for your downline team.

While you are sharing, share about why you think your product has made a difference in your life. Share about how working for yourself has made a difference in your life. If you can share these aspects with people who you have developed a relationship with, then you will make more of an impact. Then, you will find that selling your products and building up your MLM lead list will become a lot easier for you.
