What Is MLM?
So You Want To Know - What Is MLM?
So many people have seen advertisements regarding MLM, but they have little to no clue as to what MLM is, or what it entails. More to the point, many people don’t understand how others can possibly earn a great income for themselves via MLM. This post is going to give to you the basics of this program, and it will also allow for you to consider how this program could work for you.
First, with regards to what is MLM, please understand that it’s a legal business model. The basis of a MLM, or a multi level marketing business is that it sells a product or a service. Sadly, many people get this legal business model confused with pyramid schemes. The key difference between a legal multi-level marketing business and a pyramid scheme is that the pyramid scheme doesn’t sell any products or services. The pyramid scheme scams people out of their money under false circumstances and pretenses. The legal multi-level marketing entity sells products and services with the full knowledge and consent of the customer.

Now, another answer to the question of what is MLM, is that sales people are needed to sell products and services. Where do these salespeople come from? How do they find out about this business opportunity? The sales team is recruited by a network of experienced sales people affiliated with a particular MLM company. Each sales person is an independent sales representative. They earn money when they sell products and services. However, they are also paid when they recruit others to sell products and services as well. The sales reps who recruit are called uplines. Their recruits are called downlines.
Many MLM sales people like to recruit large sums of sales reps under them in order to create a sales team. In this manner, the sales team can build upon itself, and everyone involved earns as much money as possible. The great thing about this business model is that one’s individual earnings is only limited by an individual’s desire to earn and work.
This is very different from the employer/employee job model. When a worker works as an employee, they are only paid based upon what their employer tells them that they are worth. It doesn’t matter how hard an employee works, they won’t earn any more money for their efforts in a particular day. When an employee needs to earn more money, they have to prepare a speech to present to their boss, in order to ask their boss’s permission to earn more money. It’s commonly called “asking for a raise”, but it equates to an adult going to another adult and asking for permission to earn more money.
There is none of this nonsense involved in multi-level marketing. If a marketer wants to earn more money, they will either sell more products, or they will recruit more downlines. They will also take it upon themselves to learn how to become a sharper and swifter marketer. No permission needed.
So, if this answers your question of what is MLM, then your next question should be “When can I fire my boss, and start to work for myself?”
